Artist Statement

I am a self-taught artist inspired by the mastery of artisans and the creation of contemporary works. As such, I use industrial steel components that I shape, cut into sheets, fold, weld, and patinate. I use certain mobile components so my pieces offer change from different angles. I also leave room for empty space – like a vacuum, evoking disappearance, absence, and loss. The changing elements and empty spaces in my pieces references the creative force of our perpetually evolving societies. The holes, gaps, and voids reveal the wounds in each and every one of us. What is removed from the sculptures, the voluntary emptiness, recalls the ephemeral and fragile nature of life.
