Artist Statement

My early artistic endeavours incorporated found objects into agglomerations or assemblages, which dramatized my aesthetic of irrational juxtaposition, as many of the early surrealists had before me.

As I am fabricating, I am aware that each component that is affixed, is an intrusion into the empty space that had been before. I strive to achieve a balance and work within a 360-degree perspective. When successful, an intimate relationship occurs between all components of any particular piece. When viewed, the eye can’t help but race from component to component, in order to assess it from a three-dimensional perspective.

I do not like to repeat myself. I follow a totally intuitive approach. I do not question the source of my inspiration beyond the relationship between the positive and negative shapes and the sculpture as a whole. I like to think of my work as contemporary, as well as homage to all that has gone before.
